What is the Sora 2 API and what can you build with it?

Short answer: Jordan Metzner says Sora 2 is both OpenAI's video social app and its video model available by API. His tool makes horizontal or vertical videos, sets length, takes a reference image of an exact size and can remove the watermark.

Jordan Metzner [2:18]: Yeah. So, Sora two has made a quite a storm in regards to some of the viral videos it's made, and, I think there's some common nomenclature, maybe some wording that gets a little people that gets people a little bit confusing, as the name Sora has been used for a lot of different things. So Sora or Sora two is the name of the app by OpenAI, which is a new video generation social network, but it's also the name of their new model for video generation, which you can obtain via their API. And on the app, I saw they released some new features today or yesterday regarding storyboards and a bunch of new features, but today, we're gonna show off the Sora two API. And the reason I think this is a little more interesting is, obviously, you can just access it by building some app yourself and being able to develop any type of content. And this is probably one of the first ways you can start to kinda make movies. They have a lot of continuity opportunities, so they call it like a reference image, but you upload an image and then it'll make content based on the image. The descriptions are really good. Anyway, yeah, let me just jump right into it. So I built a little Sora two tool, and basically, I can generate videos both horizontally and vertically.

Jordan Metzner [3:34]: I can choose kind of my time length. I can add a reference image, and then I can also remove the Sora watermark as well. When I add a reference image, it has to be this exact size. Otherwise, it doesn't work. And sometimes, like, if you make too long of a post of an input, then sometimes the API fails, and I try to put some stop gaps in, but sometimes it still happens. But I like capybara videos. I think they're pretty funny, so I thought maybe I could make some, capybara built this week video. So let's do two capybaras talking on the built this podcast, and they say like and scribe.

Sam Nadler [4:15]: And something unexpected and funny happens at the end.

Jordan Metzner [4:18]: Yeah, that's a great one. So yeah, I think, we've seen that that works like pretty well, and we've gotten some good results. So let's say, and something funny and happens. Alright. So let's put that at twelve seconds. That way, we can kinda get a full length kinda sort of video.

Sam Nadler [4:33]: One small feature that I like is the remove the watermark as an option. Obviously, if you're creating content for your own channels, you wanna remove the Sora watermark, and I know there's, like, a ton of different tools you can do this, but just having it directly built in feels like a great little touch.
