Google Antigravity

Google Antigravity is the editor we open to test new Gemini models for free, but in our use it was less polished than Cursor and never became our daily driver.

Our verdict on Google Antigravity

Google Antigravity is Google's code editor, and for us it has been a place to try new Gemini models rather than a daily driver. In December 2025 Jordan said it was free and had some cool one-off features, but was not as polished as Cursor. By May 2026 his main coding tool was OpenAI Codex. Our evidence here is thin: four episodes of discussion and no full build.

What we built with Google Antigravity

Nothing we have demoed on the show. Here is what we actually did with it, in order:

  • Launch week, November 2025. Jordan downloaded Antigravity the week Gemini 3 dropped and spent nights pushing Gemini 3 on code. He was impressed with its coding and design taste, but he burned all his tokens and was throttled: Gemini 3 would not run for him in Antigravity or in Cursor (Episode 22, at 18:13).
  • Side by side with other IDEs, December 2025. Jordan had Visual Studio, Antigravity, Windsurf and Cursor all installed. He used Antigravity "a little bit" while it was free, but Cursor stayed his go-to (Episode 24, at 31:37).
  • The new interface, May 2026. Jordan downloaded the new version to test Gemini 3.5 Flash. The interface had changed to copy the Codex and Claude Code style, and he lost the IDE view and was not sure he could get it back (Episode 43, at 22:59).
I've been using anti gravity a little bit, but, you know, it's free, so I use try to use up my tokens until they kick me off. But it's not as polished as a product.

— Jordan Metzner, Episode 24

How we use Google Antigravity

  1. Install it next to your main editor. Jordan keeps every IDE installed and moves between them. Antigravity is one of several, not a replacement.
  2. Use it to test new Gemini models. Both times Jordan opened it on the show, it was to try a new Gemini release: Gemini 3 in November 2025 and Gemini 3.5 Flash in May 2026.
  3. Spend the free tokens, then expect limits. On Gemini 3's launch week, Jordan hit throttling across tools after a night of heavy use. Plan real work somewhere else on launch days.
  4. Use it for new features, not fixes. This is Sagi Waitzman's split at Cyviation: Antigravity and Claude Code for features built from zero, Windsurf when you need a specific fix.
  5. Judge it by feel, not charts. Jordan's advice on any new model: test it and see how it feels to you, whatever the benchmarks say.
We use antigravity and CloD code for feature from from zero, okay, because we understand they this is what they do the best.

— Sagi Waitzman, Episode 28

Where Google Antigravity falls short

  • Polish. In December 2025 Jordan found it less developed than Cursor, which he called the best experience for running several agents at once.
  • Throttling at launch. Demand for Gemini 3 meant Jordan could not keep using it the week it shipped.
  • A moving interface. The May 2026 redesign dropped the IDE view Jordan was used to.
  • Fixes. Sagi's team found it harder to fix specific things with Antigravity than to build new features.
  • Little difference underneath. On Episode 24, Arya Health's Anand Chandrasekaran pointed out that Antigravity, like Cursor, is built on VS Code. Jordan's broader point: when one tool launches a cool feature, everyone else ships it fast.

Why we keep an eye on it

Jordan is long Google on coding. His argument in Episode 24 was that Google can pair a top model, sold cheaply, with its own IDE. In Episode 43 he added that Google's TPUs could bring token costs down and give high throughput, a "pretty dangerous recipe" if a strong model sits on top. If that happens, Antigravity is where we would expect to feel it first.

Google Antigravity compared

  • Cursor vs Google Antigravity: Cursor was more developed and better with multiple agents; Antigravity was free with some cool one-off features.

Episodes featuring Google Antigravity

  • Episode 22: Gemini 3 and Antigravity launch, and Jordan gets throttled.
  • Episode 24: Jordan's IDE lineup and the debate over whether model makers will own coding tools.
  • Episode 28: how Cyviation splits work across Antigravity, Claude Code and Windsurf.
  • Episode 43: the new interface and a planned Gemini 3.5 Flash test.

FAQ

Is Google Antigravity good?

It has some cool one-off features and it was free when Jordan used it, but in December 2025 he said it was not as polished as Cursor. We have not built a full project in it on the show.

Is Google Antigravity free?

When Jordan used it in late 2025 it was free, and he used up his tokens until he hit the limit. We did not cover paid plans or current pricing.

Google Antigravity vs Cursor: which is better?

In December 2025 Jordan called Cursor the most developed IDE and the best for running multiple agents at once. Antigravity was free and had some cool features but was less polished.

What is Google Antigravity best for?

Sagi Waitzman, CTO of Cyviation, said his team uses Antigravity and Claude Code to build features from zero, and switches to Windsurf when they need specific fixes.
